The internationally renowned Kanun virtuoso and composer Sofia Labropoulou developed an independent sound from the fusion of Greek and Mediterranean folk music, classical Ottoman and medieval music as well as experimental and modern music. For their new album Sisyphus (December 2020, Odradek World), Sofia Labropoulou drew inspiration from poetry as well as music from different eras & geographical regions. A variety of sources can be found on it, from "The Myth of Sisyphus" by Albert Camus, Greek mythology, folk music, Turkish and Arabic music and even two songs by the Sex Pistols.
The result is unique and distinctive. Sofia Labropoulou has recently moved to Vienna. With her new Viennese formation she presents her album "Sisyphus" and special guest Eleni Christou from Greece.
